Sweet corn on the cob, when boiled, takes approximately 10 minutes to cook. This may vary according to how large the ears of corn are and how many you are cooking at one time. Be sure to salt the water and avoid overfilling the pot. You'll want the water to cover the corn, without overflowing.

10 minutes is on the long end of the art. The locals grow thousands of acres of sweet corn for the market and, in season, it is a daily staple at dinnertime. Most cook the 'fresh' sweet corn no more than a minute or two after the water returns to a boil, NEVER salt the water for cooking sweet-corn on the cob! Salting the water makes the kernels tough! Allow your guests to add butter, salt & pepper or rub with lime to individual taste after serving.
