Number of pictures a 2GB card can hold depends on the resolution as well as the quality of pictures you are taking. The higher the quality of the picture, and its resolution the higher memory it will consume thus leaving you to lesser number of pictures as desired compared to low quality ones.

A 2GB memory card can usually hold up to 500 to 600 photos, depending on the quality and size of the pictures. The higher the resolution, the more space it takes up on the card.
