There are four cardinal directions or cardinal points known as North (N), East (E), West (W) and South (S). The intermediate points between the four cardinal directions form the point of the compass. The intermediate direction is also known as inter-cardinal or ordinal directions is defined as the direction found between the four cardinal directions and is noted as North-East (NE), North West (NW), South-East (SE), and South-West (SW).
