My answers support Susan G. Komen for the Cure® What's this?

From wkipedia:

Certain compounds in asparagus are metabolized, giving urine a distinctive smell due to various sulfur-containing degradation products, including various thiols, thioesters, and ammonia.[33]

The volatile organic compounds responsible for the smell are identified as:[34][35]

methanethiol
dimethyl sulfide
dimethyl disulfide
bis(methylthio)methane
dimethyl sulfoxide
dimethyl sulfone

Basically what that means is that there's stuff in asparagus that makes your pee smell funny when you digest it and process it.

They also said that only about 22% of the population has the gene that enables them to smell what they called "asparagus urine". Congrats on your super sniffer.

Well your pea is made up of what foods you eat throughout the day. It probably tastes different because there are different chemicals and things like that in it.

When your body breaks down the asparagus during digestion, certain compounds are metabolized, most notably sulfur-containing chemicals including thiols and thioesters, as well as ammonia. These chemicals produce "stinky" smells. According to the latest research, while it everyone produces these "stinky" chemicals, not everyone can smell them. It seems to be a gene-linked trait that only around 1/5 of the population has (I happen to be one of them--so I know exactly the smell your brother is talking about).

If you're referring to urine, it's spelled "pee" not pea. You eat peas. You urinate pee.
