It only happens with certain bees, honey bees are one of them, but their stinger pulls out of their body when they sting you, leaving a fatal wound in their abdomen. Wasps, hornets and other bee type insects do not die after stinging and can sting multiple times.
Only the Africanized Honey Bee (better known as the "killer" bee) dies when it stings. This is because its intestines come out along with its stinger to rapidly push more of its venom into the victim's body. Although this is very effective, the bee is essentially a suicide bomber. Because they die when they sting, it is only a defensive weapon so people should be okay if they don't make them mad or get too close to their hive.
ok, science 101. bees have a fish-hook at the end of their stinger that lodges in the skin so that when they try to get free, it pulls out of their abdomen with a fatal injury. Hornets and wasps do not have the barbed end on their stinger so they can sting over and over.

Only the honey bee dies. That includes Africanized bees, they are still honey bees. They do have a hook on the end of their stinger and cannot pull free without it tearing their abdomen in the process. The venon sac will keep pumping till all the venom has been emptied. That is why they only sting in defense of themselves or their hive. Male honey bees or Drones as they are called have no stinger at all. Bumble bees can sting you like a sewing machine. I have been stung hundreds of times by all types of bees. Now you know the facts. The honey bee is also the only bee that stores excess honey. Read the book The Hive and the Honeybee and learn more about this fascinating insect.

They die after they sting you is because if the honey bee stings you it has a hook on the end of its stinger. If it was to sting you then it would eventually die after the hook is connected inside of you. So there for the bee's important weapon against its' predators is gone. The stinger is like a heart. Its' stinger is connected to its organs. Once it is loose of you the stinger is stuck in you and its' organs are ripped out of it. So it dies after it stings you. That is what I think. Maybe its' just nature? Maybe its' just the heart of a bee? Or maybe its the weapon of a bee?
