As we all can see from the above posts, there are numerous beliefs expressed in answering just this one question. Granted, it was a leading question to begin with, and it literally cried out for religious arguments. Except for one or two exceptions, each progressive answer brought criticizing remarks and sarcasm.

It would probably be best if such subjects as religion and politics could be avoided, because--no matter how correct we are certain our beliefs are, they only seem to bring out the worst in us.

I do agree with ThomasMind's remark, "God is complex, we are simpletons."

Jesus and God are two completely different people. God has always been there, Jesus was created and he is the messenger and servant of God.

Jesus is the son of God, sent down to earth. (how's your question racist) :/ plus it's the trinity so there's Jesus, God, and the holy spirit

Not a contradition at all. God is One and He's Three simultaneously. An easy thing for God who is omniscient and omnipresent and omnipotent.

Christians say god is all forgiving but if you actually read the bible he is always killing and punishing, it doesn't make much sense

In the Torah in Psalms 110:1, "the Lord said to my Lord," and Christians interpret this verse to mean that they are the same essence (Matt 22:41-46). Not two Gods, but one shared essence.

Nonsense. The name for God is Adonai. The word in Psalm 110, 10 is not Adonai, but Adoni. The latter is used in the Bible for people flesh and blood, e.g., Genesis 23, 6 where it refers to Abraham. The fact that Abraham was called Adoni makes most commentators interpret Psalm 110, 1 as talking about Abraham too.

Your argument is stated here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u0Tg2nGjUk
This is not the orthodox Christian position, nor is it the position attributed to Jesus. In all three gospels, he gives the interpretation that is now the orthodox Christian position. That interpretation has been faithfully recorded above.
The usual Jewish interpretation is slightly different than you gave and is found here: http://www.glaird.com/kiminter.
The Jewish version was not the question asked, but I include it for completeness sake.

No. One. God and Christ are One, along with the Holy Spirit
God the Father
God the Son
God the Holy Spirit
God is Three and One simultaneously. The Tripartied nature of the one and only God.

Since God is Christ and Christ is God, One and separate simultaneously, Lord God and Lord Jesus refer to the same power.

'In the beginning was the Word, (Christ) and the Word was with God and the Word was God.'

i was talking to my pastor about the same thing he said that it is hard to understand but Jesus is god and human but not half human, half god he is 100% human and 100% God because if he was just half God he would have sinned an his death would have been the penalty for his sin. if he was only half human then he wouldn't have experienced what is like to be a human and not understand what we are going though and die for them. so we call them both lord because they are the same 3 in father, son, holy spirit same thing

Hi naah, you must have it such that Jesus is completely God and completely human at the same time. That is like saying someone is tall and short at the same time. You cannot have it both my friend because to be human means to have limitations and to be divine means to have none. Which one is it?

he is 100% human and 100% god if he wasn't then he wouldn't be able to do wht he did...if there is a person taller then you and a person shorter then you...you are both tall and short....short to the tall person and tall to the short

The only way Jesus could have been human and divine at the same time is if he was schizophrenic in which he would have a split personality within himself. My Jesus is not like that :)

Look at it this way, your manager is your boss and the owner of the company is your boss. Jesus is your Lord and God is your Lord. Lord is a deferential appellation for a person or deity who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler.

Well, Christianity did come from Judaism and Judaism was a Unitarian religion. What you seee in many biblical translations is the end result of Greek philosophical mindset attemptimg to explain God. This thinking wasn't there in the first century but thank the Athanasian Creed for how your Bible's translated.

Here's something good to read: http://www.watchtower.org/e/20090401a/article_01.htm

What you’re talking about is the Trinity which was developed by the early Catholic Church.Trinitarians like the Catholic Church teach that the Father (God) and the Son (Jesus) are one being and equal in authority.
Does the Bible say that the Father (God) and the Son (Jesus) are one being and equal in authority?
Mathew 26:39; “Going a little further he (Jesus) fell on his face and prayed, ‘My father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.’” [I propose that if the Father and the Son were not two separate beings and the son not subordinate to the father, that prayer would have been meaningless. Jesus would have been praying to himself, and his will would inevitability have been the father’s will.]
John 8:17, 18; “In your law it is written that *the testimony of two men is true; I bear witness to myself, and the father who sent me bears witness to me”[So, Jesus definitely spoke of himself as being separate and distinct from the Father]
*Jesus is referring to Deuteronomy 17:6; On the testimony of two or three witnesses a man shall be put to death, but no one shall be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

Christianity is a polytheistic religion, believing in three gods, and depending on denomination also a large number of saints and other semi divine entities. Christian will deny that, but they have multiple gods, and their most important god is Jesus, a man. The idea of three persons of the same essence is a logical fallacy, and is derived through the fallacy of equivocation. Christians just confuse you with words, and hide their polytheistic nature.

There is just one God: Adonai is God, Adonai is One.

Again, I'm curious. I haven't heard much about Adonai. What is your belief?

Haven't heard much of Adonai? He "only" created the Universe... Adonai is translated in most English translations of the Hebrew Bible into Lord. Adonai is the Hebrew word. Since you asked, I'm Jewish.

It gets very difficult to be pelagic with Christians, who are arguably the biggest supporters of Israel, if we are openly hostile and dismissive of them, if we call them names and doubt their honesty, or if we cast slurs on their faith. The model you are following is typical not of rabbis but of internet flamers.

Pelagic? Anyway, declaring faith in One God is something I will never refrain from doing. And you know how many times I have listened to Christians arguing that Jews "don't understand" the Bible, that the Law is no longer required, etc? In Jewish eyes the trinity is polytheistic. Nothing bad will befallen Christians if they knew that. Support of Israel is terrific, but it has nothing to do with this.

We have to do this because God is infinitely more complex than we can understand. God could be many, you could be created for one being on a dimension we will never understand.
God is complex, we are simpletons. We are singular in comparison so in this we make mistakes. Only Atheists are perfect.
Also, to make you doubt so that at the end of your life you will have no choice but to understand why. You’re asking why Christians are not perfect.

Lior Christianity is not a religion based on 3 Gods. Semi Devines is Catholocism.........

Please do not mistake a mystery for contradiction. Scientists consider many things a mystery, such as whether light is a particle or a wave. It has characteristics of both. Your source of Truth is God Himself as He has revealed Himself. Jesus said no one could forgive sins except God, yet He claimed to have authority to forgive sins. Jesus said He was Lord. Jesus did miracles only God could do. Most of all Jesus, Who was with God in the beginning and created all things, came to earth in human form to die for the sins of mankind on the cross. His diety was again confirmed because He demonstrated His power and authority over death by His resurrection. No other person, including every religious leader in history, has ever done that. Yes, Jesus is Lord and God. It is taught throughout the Scriptures. One God manifest in three Persons--Father, Son, Spirit. A wonderful mystery indeed. Pray that you trust in Him soon if you have not already. John 3:16; Revelation 1:8, 17-18 and many more.
