As far as I know iPhone 3GS is not compatible with iOS5 and iCloud. So you will need to create a backup of your old phone using iTunes and restore it to new iPhone. If you find this method difficult, try MobileGo iPhone Manager.
With MobileGo you can transfer all the data such as contacts, SMS, music, apps, photos etc. from your old iPhone to your new iPhone without iTunes. Visit the following link to download this program
Hook your 3G up to your laptop. Open iTunes. Right click on the name of your iPhone and click 'back up'. After The computer finishes backing up your contacts and stuff hook up your iPhone 4. Right click on the name of your phone and click 'sync'. The end.
Put the iPhone 3G to the laptop or pc or Mac, then sync all your music and apps on your laptop, Mac, or pc. The sync should come up on what ever it says. ________ iPhone or something. Then press sync. Then it should transfer to the laptop. Then when that's done you put your iPhone 4 to the laptop Mac or pc. Then it sometimes ask if it can sync the stuff that's on your Mac laptop or pc.
