Stay away from symptom-relieving med. They just make things worse and they're way too expensive. Stay home from work if you can and get lots of rest; stay down and don't do anything but read, watch TV, or nap. Drink lots of OJ and other liquids and, yes, chicken soup. I'd take aspirin or another pain reliever. If things don't start getting better in up to 3-4 days, see a doctor or go to the ER.
Drink plenty of fluids. Drinking fluids causes you to go to the bathroom a lot which will flush the sickness out of your system. It works trust met. Also, continuously blow your nose. One time, I had a cold for three days. I was like "im not having this" and I kept blowing my nose and it was gone. I was so relieved.
If you say your nose is "stuffy" as in full of mucus, you could always sweat. Sweating opens your nasal passage and helps you relieve yourself of mucus. Also eating something with hot sauce or drinking it plain will also help. But this sweating method only helps temporarily. If you wan to help a lot, drinking water could do it. If your nose is "stuffy" as in closed nasal passages but no mucus, then you could always buy some vapor rub and rub it on your chest or under your nose but above your lip. And of course medicine is available at any Walgreens or drug store. I hope I helped!

A cold is caused by a virus and there is no way to cure a virus...just let it run it's course. That being said, you can symptomatically treat it. I love the new Mucinex commercial because it correctly explains that the "stuffiness" can be caused by inflammation. So over the counter meds to try are Mucinex to reduce the inflammation, Robitussen DM if you have a cough, and Aspirin OR Tylenol OR Ibuprofen if you have pain (choose one of the last 3 - don't take all of those together!); also, stay within the recommended dosage amounts on the box. Afrin can be used for nasal stuffiness or if you have "fullness" in your ears (like you feel like you can't make them "pop") as well but DON'T GO BEYOND 3 DAYS! After that it may make things worse. Of course, stop taking any meds if you feel like they're making things worse. Like everyone else said, also drink plenty of fluids! Seek professional medical care if you have symptoms such as shortness of breath (difficulty breathing) and/or if you're making noises with breathing that don't go away when you cough, fever that won't go down despite other treatment (especially if you feel like you're confused or not yourself), headache that won't go away or is ridiculously painful, chest pain (not necessarily just with coughing because that could be muscular pain from coughing), neck pain when you forward bend it, or if you have other symptoms that you're concerned about or if you feel like your current symptoms were originally tolerable and now they've become intolerable. It never hurts to consult an expert!
