Fashion for women and men in the 1960s became extremely creative and set many precedents. People wore “hippie-influenced” fashions such as bell-bottoms and tie-dyed clothing, and designers emulated popular artists at the time such as the Beatles, creating Mod fashion (clean, manicured lines, tight-fitting and sometimes unisex outfits). Too, there was a strong 1950s influence in the early part of the 1960s as fashion purists at that time were resistant to change.
