If you are freezing your cream cheese frosting on a cake, then allow the cake to freeze uncovered before wrapping it securely in plastic freezer wrap. Add a final layer of aluminum foil. When defrosting, remove all the wrappings so that it will not disturb the icing when removed.
Cream cheese frosting can be frozen by placing it in plastic freezer bags and freezing. When you are ready to use it again, remove from freezer and allow to thaw completely. Whip the frosting and serve.
