The length of time it takes to cook chicken breasts depends on the temperature and bone in or out. When cooking at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and roasting for boneless it is 20 to 30 minutes. When simmering in a pan it is 25 to 30 minutes, and for grilling it is 6 to 8 minutes each side. For bone-in and in the oven it would be 30 to 40 minutes, simmering 35 to 35 minutes, and grilling 10 to 15 minutes each side. If you stuff the chicken, add 15 to 30 minutes extra.
There are many variables in how long it takes to bake a chicken breast including the size of the breast, whether it is with bone in or not and the temperature of the oven. In general, a 6 to 8 ounce bone in breast baked at 350° will take about 30 – 40 minutes. A boneless breast that is 4 ounces baked at 350° will take about 20 – 30 minutes. The internal temperature should be at least 170 degrees and can be measured with a meat thermometer.
