small appetizers--made from small philo dough shells found in freezer section of food market-like quiches, fruit tarts, cheese/meat treats (recipes on box and online) also, fruit and veggie platter with variety of dips.....everyone loves a salad bar with a wide variety of toppings to choose from. Another idea I wanted to try sometime is using those little Melba toasts and making all those little goodies they picture on the box-for a party where lots of different tastes are served. the favorite thing of all time for baby showers amongst my friends and family is fruit pizza! The crust is a giant sugar cookie- the topping is one half package cream cheese, one half small tub whipped topping, and one half jar marshmallow cream. On top of that, is cut up fruit-whatever you like, but some fruits work better than others....like strawberries, kiwi, mandarin oranges, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc...most any type of berry (banana turns black quickly) drizzle melted jelly or marmalade over top if you like....hint: best when prepared the night before, as flavors marry in fridge and taste even yummier the next day!
Some basic finger foods that can be served at a baby shower are cheese and crackers, chips and a variety of dips, pigs in a blanket (mini hot dogs), vegetable platters, fruit platters, homemade treats (cookies, cupcakes, brownies), pizza rolls, etc. You can find tons of frozen appetizers in the freezer section at your local grocery store. Also, you can have deli platters made if you'd like.
Great answers! I want to add easy to hold food and food that don't create gas. If the shower is later in the day you may want to serve cold cuts, potato salad and fried chicken. If children are present you may want to add mac n cheese and sippy juices.
