What does it mean when a guy says you look amazing?

Ok so I went to this dance and I wore a really pretty red dress and afterwards I text the guy I like ( he was there as well, it was like a father daughter dance, he was just helping out with everything) and said he looked great tonight and he said thanks you looked amazing! I'm not sure if I'm reading too far into this...because one of my best friends (he's a guy as well) just said I liked your dress... it wasn't anything like you looked amazing. I know it sounds like a dumb question but I would like to know if maybe there was anything more than just a compliment? We are pretty good friends to and see each other on a regular basis..

He may like you because he said something to you. I know I wouldn't say that to someone I didn't like.

Thats true, I was just thinking he could have been like thanks you did too but I guess when he said I looked amazing it seemed a little different than just a compliment...maybe I'm wrong...
