When the first 3 French guys came to Canada they were trying to come up with a name for the country, so they decided to put letters in a hat and draw a letter a piece. The first guy grabbed "c"ay the second guy "n"ay and the third guy "d"ay. Canada- true story no stereotype.

I have a Canadian friend I've known for years that taught me some of the idioms and nuances of "Canada" speak. "Eh" was one she taught me, and she even created a certificate that I was a "certified" Canadian speaker. It was all in fun between us, as I taught her how to speak "hillbilly" in exchange.

I would not think the majority of people intend to make fun of the way Canadians speak. It's just different for them, and sometimes a bit amusing, just as my hillbilly may be amusing to just about the entire planet.
