2 yrs ago I bought a notebook running windows 7 it turned out to be useless (slow). Without a cd drive can I install XP? will it help?

Samsung NB 1.0ghz amd atom 500gighd

Yes you can install XP by using an external CD drive of which it can help to increase the speed of the notebook. To improve the speed you can also defragment your hard drive, avoid automatically starting programs, uninstall unused programs and scan for viruses, spyware and adware.
