Ain't that a loaded question. Hopefully you meant "choice to come out" rather than "choice to be gay". You'll have all the kooks coming down on that one saying "aha!".
One, the believers from monotheistic religions aren't ever coming around on this topic, no sense in asking that question. Then you have your basic rednecks, prudes an assorted 'tsk tsk' -ers who want to impose their ideas on a world that's not asking their opinion but they're offering it anyway. Again, I doubt these folks are ever coming around on the issue, they'll argue in circles on why homosexuality is wrong.
Then you're left with a class of some size, not sure how big it is but I think it is getting bigger, who realize that most of what's wrong with this world involves people expressing their intolerance and hate, not with people who are trying to express their affection and love. Some of these folks might still be a challenge in that they recognize, at an intellectual level, there is nothing threatening at all about homosexuality, but when it comes home to roost in their own family, well, genuinely wish it hadn't.
I think society is moving in the right direction, but probably too slowly, in accepting the gay community. The voice of reason is soft, but persistent.
