How do you get your parents to allow you to have a Facebook?

my dad's totally on board with the whole thing, but my mom... Well she's not a big fan of all of those social sites. I don't know how to convince her and all of my friends have Facebooks. One of my friend's parents even asked her if she wanted one!

As a Mom, I was not on board with the whole Facebook for the kids thing. It was not a matter of trust for the kid it was about other people! There are adults who do nothing all day but figure out how to lure people into bad situations. They practice and practice and they never stop until the law stops them. They are on all those sites too pretending to be someone else. They even fool grown men and women into relationships. A vulnerable kid doesn't stand a chance. I didn't let mine on Facebook until 15 1/2 and I know the password and I can check anytime to see what friends are up to. I don't hover but I do pay attention. No major problems. A security expert once said leaving kids alone with Internet access is like leaving your kids home alone but removing your front door from the hinges. This is what is scaring the snot out of your mom. She has every reason to be concerned. It most likely isn't about trusting you at all.

To convince your parents to let you have a Facebook account, you need to prove that you are responsible and not going to do anything wrong once you are on the site. Perhaps you should let your mother know she can have your password, and have full access to your account at all times so she can check on you whenever she feels it necessary.
