No! There's very bad sites on there he could look up! Also internet on the iPhone cost $15 or $25 a month, but if you use extra minutes or crap, then it will go up for a very high price. I have a IPhone 3 GS and im 14. I have wifi, so that's what your really gonna need. If you go on YouTube with out wifi, then they will charge you like $200 a month! So I say heck no for a 10 year old.

Normally, I'd say no, but it really depends on the kid's maturity levels. If you think this kid is careful and gentle enough to take care of something so easily broken than go ahead and let the kid have it, but by giving that to him/her at such an early age, you could make them a little spoiled. They might think that since they got an iphone at such an early age, they can convince you to buy them anything they want whenever they want it. Answering the questions about internet and what they could be doing on there... just block sites or completely disable the internet. It's completely the parent's decision... but if I had to choose, I'd go with a no.

well it depend who you are talking about. If you are talking about a very mature 10yr girl who is already out on her own and participating in a lot of out of school events its reasonable, but no recommended. A guy though, no matter what level of maturity the answer should always be no, giving them a smartphone is like telling them to go look up XXX material. Girls don't usually have the ultra curious feeling that guys do, I am a 14 yr old guy, i know what im talking about. Ive had a flip phone until now 9th grade, just got a smart phone. Yeah you might get made fun of then fine get a slide phone, its really similar yet no one will make fun of you. My brothers both didnt get their first flip phones until around junior or even senior year. Thats the way it should be for smartphones, but getting with the times is important. Not that i wouldnt miss my smartphone, but making them only available to those who have a drivers licence or something like that sounds reasonable. 10 yr old kid, most of the time hell no, they dont need to grow up that fast.

An Iphone NO..a basic cell phone maybe..An Iphone will just encourage games,sexting later on, Replacement costs for lost ,stolen or broken phones. For security purposes a plain cellphone can call home or 911 and if you give in at that age what more expensive items are going to be expected as he grows in age and IPad 3 next ? or a 80,000 dollar car for graduation? Parents are advised to have a PC in a common room in he house for safe web surfing but unsupervised unlimited use by a 10 year old is a Big No
