Why do some female dogs get so attached to male humans?

Report as

Dogs are territorial pack animals; descendants of wolves and have a dominance pecking order. The most dominant gets all of the respect and most of the attention. This carries over to visitors who come into a dogs area or "territory". The dog will try to exhibit dominance over the visitor, be it human or another dog. As far as female dogs following men it's because the animal can sense who is the dominate one by size, and voice tone.

Voice tone only matters if your calm-assertive...you can't have a booming scary voice..the dog will just cower in the corner..it's really all about your energy..the youngest person in your family could be pack leader if they use the right energy and timing to discipline the dog!!

Human psychology doesn't work on pack animals. It may make the caretaker/provider/ responsible party, dare I say "owner", feel good about the way they treat the animal, however, that doesn't address the question asked. If you watched the news lately you probably saw a news reporter get bitten in the face by an animal rescued from a freezing river earlier. Her mistake was applying human psychology to a canine. Unfortunately her sense of human compassion for such a beautiful animal was in conflict with the nature of the animal.

All dogs can get attached to humans. Where are you getting the idea that gender makes any difference either way, for the dog or the human? I really don't think it does.

Report as
It might be jealousy but I think it is because you are her owner, not your gender.

It does make a difference
I've had 2 male dogs growing up now I have 1 female..she is more attached to me than anyone else in my house..my other male dogs tended to protect my mom when I was young and same with my sisters..never were attached to me...but idk if it's because now I use "Ceaser's way"

I am male, I have had male dogs and female dogs and I have never noticed any difference. The female dogs might have been a little more gentle over all but I never felt less attached or beloved by my male dog. I am not saying it isn't possible and maybe the breed might make a difference.

Most likely coincidence...I was a kid when I had males so I mainly just teased them and played rough
Now my girl dog i use Ceaser Milan's Methods to train her so she's more looking to me as pack leader!!
