why do I feel like I'm dying every time I start my period?

This sound like a bad case of premenstrual syndrome. It is a combination of the strong hormones you body uses and the physical changes you go through each cycle. About one in twenty to one in forty have symptoms that are as bad as you describe. Without knowing more details it is hard to be sure, but it may be largely emotional and those are caused by the hormones your body is making. You can talk to a doctor about ways to treat the symptoms. Hormone based birth control can help, but then again, you may not want to do that. Good luck.

I am not sure if you are on birth control and your belief in using it, or if you are trying to have or do have children. I have had friends who have bad PMS or otherwise troublesome menstrual cycles and they got on hormone based BC as a means to help control it. Just a thought.
