Can a wisdom tooth infection kill you

Dental health

Any sort of infection can kill you. So can getting hit by a train! Both are Very Unlikely. A tooth ache is a true drag! I've had my fair share. The best thing to do is gargle with salt water and brush gently. Don't drink coffee or tea. The acidity will drive you nuts! Try not to grind your teeth or push down! I know it's really hard to keep your tounge off of them but try. Take some aspirin if your stomach is o.k. and find a dentist who will pull them without costing an arm and a leg! But, of all the things you can die from.. this is one I wouldn't be too concerned about! Take Care!

Seriously? An infection in the tooth that is left untreated will just grow and then go to the heart.

It is not something to just deal with.

I had a very bad infection in my tooth and nothing was relieving the pain. Salt water didn't help, pain killers just led to me also having a stomach ulcer because the pain wasn't going away.

As I said, any sort of infection can kill you. I also still have my lower wisdom teeth that are impacted and were infected for some time. I will need oral surgery to have them removed. They are also BACKWARDS! So, please don't harp on me for trying to give the best advice I know. I also know it's very important to take care of your mouth and every part of your body. Please understand, I wasn't being sarcastic, I was saying, there are many ways to help and this was the best I knew. I don't see you helping, just making me and possibly her a little more nervous. Just for the recaord, I also said if your stomach can handle it. I have two bleeding ulcers and can't take asprin. But It does help my husband and my grandma. I hope you all know I wasn't making fun I was showing ways to make him/her feel better. Have a nice night.

I believe an infection in ANY tooth can potentially kill you.

The reason is the infection can spread directly to your heart if you leave it untreated because the tooth is linked to your blood vessels.

Why would you NOT get to a dentist if you have an infection? Geez, I don't have dental coverage but that kind of pain wouldn't let me sleep at all so I had the tooth pulled because I can't afford a root canal.

Any infection, if left untreated, is dangerous and sometimes potentially fatal, which means a wisdom tooth infection can kill you if not treated for some time. Infections usually release toxins into the bloodstream, and as most doctors will tell you, that is very dangerous and is sometimes fatal. Talk to your dentist for more on this.

I have heart disease and now have a leaking heart valve. Since my last bypass, my teeth have decayed rapidly and now i have FIVE teeth that need immediate removal. My cardiologist has approved to get them removed due to the possibility of infection going to my heart...however, i only have medicare and it does NOT pay for dental. I need ALL my teeth removed due to periodontal disease, but can find not ONE dentist that will help me cause i don't have the cash. Guess this is what America has come too. :(
