A certificate shall be issued if the applicant is 21 or older and is not prohibited by law from purchasing or possessing a handgun. It is unlawful for a person under 18 years of age to possess a handgun. This prohibition does not apply to a juvenile in the armed forces or the temporary loan of a handgun for instruction under the immediate supervision of a parent or guardian or adult instructor.
You may shoot a gun in Nebraska at the age of 12 providing you have a proof of completion of a Firearm Hunter Education course. You may also obtain an exemption from having completed the Firearm Hunger Education course as long as you receive training from an experienced hunter and are accompanied at all times by said hunter.
In Nebraska, you should be at least 21 years old to be able to purchase and own a handgun while you should be at least 18 to get a legal specification shotgun. All people below 18 years old are not permitted to own a handgun.
