A customer isn't sure what an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system does - how would you explain it?
An oxygen sensor in an exhaust system on a car can detect the ratio of air and gasoline that is needed for operation. A rich mixture has a ratio of too much fuel to oxygen while a lean mixture is the opposite.
The Oxygen sensor measures the amount of oxygen in the gasoline. This sensor will alert the driver if the gas is not at peak levels for engine performance.
An oxygen sensor in an exhaust system monitors the level of oxygen in the air and fuel ratio. To much or to little oxygen can lead to problems within the engine.
