A Summary Judgment is a procedure to render a decision without a hearing. If the judge finds that each side has supporting evidence that is admissible, the case will continue. The Legal Aid Society can be reached for further assistance here: http://www.legal-aid.org/en/home.aspx.
A summary judgment is when the moving party of a civil case asks that the judge pass judgment rather than letting the case proceed to trial. After the judge issues a verdict, the amount of damages is then assessed.
