I am not completely sure that it can give you a virus but I DO know that it is not for 8-13 year olds as it says on the website. It involves many chat rooms in which you can chat to other members, many people on these chat rooms are inappropriate because they ask for certain things etc.... They also include online boyfriend/girlfriend requests that can be accepted. The clothes are far too skanky for children -- for some examples about this subject you can google netmums moviestarplanet.
The moviestarplanet website is not totally safe especially if your computer doesn't have an anitvirus. This webiste puts your computer at risk for viruses and also makes your Internet connection much slower.
It now is a very safe website if someone breaks a rule kids can have the right to tattletale on them or report them. They can also block the user so they can't reach your child. In my opinion I like it because you can express everything that you like without anyone laughing at you because you can report them for that. Now in 2013 it became totally safe. You can't type bad things or weird words or else it turns red. Only kids 13 and up can but kids younger only see ******* or #######
MSP is not a completely safe environment for the ages that moviestarplanet suggests. The outfits are somewhat inappropriate and the Bf/Gf questions are not in my liking. What most parents should do is sit their child down and discuss internet safety. Go over these rules clearly. If you suspect that your child is being threatened, then tell them that You will give them two choices. To behave appropriate or you will watch them play. Tell them the website has no real relationships. Some children tend to seem depressed when they go through a break-up. My child on MSP (gracemayb123), has gotten of the computer before to cry because of a break up. So in my opinion, let them play on it. Maybe they will learn something. But keep in mind that you should be watching somewhat.
