Would you think undercoating a brand new toyota camry 2012 hybrid be prudent living in areas of the country that use salt on winter roads

Report as

The problem with undercoating in salt and winter roads is the rust that will occur after a while when you undercoat. This is because the salt water mist condenses on your vehicle, and slowly allows rust to eat away at the metal. The rust then continues to damage the body, floorboards, frame, and fuel and brake lines. So if you want to do the undercoating you should get a snow and salt protector as well to ensure your car does not face such problems in the future.

According to a leading consumer magazine, undercoating isn't needed nowadays. Two things it can accomplish are making your car heavier and your wallet lighter.

I don't know from experience, but I would be concerned with plugging up some drain holes and areas that are suppose to let corrosive road water drain.
