i do believe in Jesus but i dont believe in forcing religion on people. Some people do it because they get defensive and they are trying to prove their own religion to themselves

Beats me. Probably are trying to persuade people to join their religion. Also maybe cause the question has something to do with their religion. It's really annoying though. People shouldn't force their religion on others so stop trying people.

Not all of us are trying to "convert" everyone. For many of us our "faith" is as much a part of our lives as breathing in and out.

Some lack the ability to think independently. Some believe it is sinful to. There are actually quite a few who do say what they personally think based on their religious beliefs but they are tactful and respectful of those who may not share those same values. Many people agree with them. They just don't tend to be judgmental or try to pretend that their way is the only way.

Hi! I am a Christian but I do not go to church. The reason is, for me it's not about "religion" it's about faith. I have faith that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. During His life JESUS brought something perfect and beautiful to us, and ever since humans have done their level best to mess it up. I can't "convert" anyone, that's GODs job and the individuals choice to receive the gift He offers.

I think the world would be a much safer and happier place if more people could feel comfortable adopting your position no matter what religious belief they came to know.
Report as
Very true.

It's one thing to stick by your faith and defend it, and it's a completely different thing to disrespect others in favour of yours.

Well I believe in my religion very much and part of that believe is that God gave us free will and regardless if someone doesn't have the same beliefs as u do or religion and or belief in God everyone still has that free will whether or not you believe in God or not so anyone is allowed to speak their mind and what I have been thought and raised in inside my own home and in my religion is to be a friendly neighbor to everyone even if you may have differences between each other so if someone where to say God doesn't exist well ok I respect your opinion why b/c I believe in God and what he has thought me which is kindness respect optimism etc. So everyone has their free will to do and say what they want

For some people, religion touches literally every aspect of their life. All of their actions, decisions, and conversation are affected by their beliefs. Perhaps some people find it annoying. Amazingly the people that are annoyed by people who apply religion consistently to every aspect of their lives are the same ones who point out hypocrisy in those who only let religion affect certain areas of their lives but omit it from others.

If someone truly knew the answer to achieving eternally life, eternal happiness and eternal love, but they chose to keep it to themselves and not share it with anyone else, what would you think of these people? If someone truly knows that the way others around them are living their lives would lead to eternal pain, eternal damnation, but did nothing about it, what would you think of them?
If you saw a 5 year old playing with a gun, and having fun, would you let them continue to play with it just because they were enjoying it? Hopefully not, because you feel you know something about the gun and its inherent danger and you would try to take the gun away and prevent him from hurting himself.
Some people feel the same way about their faith. They know and believe that others are "playing" with something dangerous. They could let others continue playing and enjoying their time with this danger. But if they really believe and let others continue, they are worse than someone who would let the 5 year old continue playing with the gun, for they believe this danger leads to something worse than death, eternal damnation.
This is why I believe some people bring religion into every conversation. Not all people that do this, but many of them. Maybe I'm wrong, but you were asking for what we thought so there you go. If someone is sharing their beliefs with me out of sincere love and caring for my general and eternal well-being, then I appreciate the care and concern, whether I believe them or not.

Do you understand that there may be individuals who don't share your beliefs? They may be put off by being condescended to as if they were somehow a small child who could not make a decision for him or her self.
Report as
Where have I said these are my beliefs? I said these are why I think people bring religion up in every conversation which is what the question asked.
Let's assume for the moment that these are in fact my beliefs. Then by my previous statements, I should still try to stop people from harming themselves if they don't know better and if I really cared for them.
Just like with the example of the 5 year old, which should I be more concerned with, hurting their feeling by patronizing or being "condescending" towards them or with saving their lives.
I'll answer with "I'm going to let them continue playing with the gun because I would hate to hurt their feelings." How does that decision sit with you.
And I'm not even saying you have to force the "gun" away from people. I'm saying if you believe you know something that they don't about a danger they are exposed to, you make them aware so they can have more information prior to making any rash or irreversible decisions. And how do you inform them? By bringing it up in conversations whenever possible to let them be as informed as possible. Again, I have answered the original question asked.

I think maybe I see where you hang-up with my response may be. It was my analogy of the 5 year old. You are one of those people that think, when they read an analogy, that every single parallel between the actual situation and the anaolgy has to be made or the anaolgy is invalid.
Maybe I should use an anaolgy that you see an adult new to your area who has come upon an interesting and beautiful flower which you know to be extremely dangerous and highly poisonous. This person, new to the area is unfamiliar with the plant and begins to handle and inspect the flower. Should you, having knowledge they lack, try to stop them from handling the flower or let them continue in ignorance? Which would be your immediate response, to knock it immediately out of their hand, or slowly explain to them the danger of the flower and let them arrive at their own conclusion before acting? Of course you can argue one way or the other, but if I'm the stranger, and you took your time explaining first and acting later, I'm not sure I want you as a "neighbor".

I merely suggested that some MIGHT view the attitude as condescending and you conclude I would not act to keep someone from harm. But you don't feel that some may view that as judgmental or even arrogant? You felt it important to defend the position with a personal attack. That's classic.
Report as
I do feel some may view that as judgemental or arrogant. I agree with you here. I'm just saying when it come to a matter of life and death (and I do believe it to be a matter of life or death) sometimes I feel I must act on the opportunity presented. Who cares how they view me? There may not be a tomorrow for myself or the other person.
I do apologize for the attack. I have seen you respond on several questions and appreciate reading your responses. You are typically very respectful and I had no reason to respond as I did. I also took your respond as a personal attack and reacted in kind. I do get frustrated reading some responses on this site and I took my frustration out on you. I'm sorry.

If you believe what the Bible says about how God created us, then it is only fair to involve Him in our decisions and life. He knows what is best, so why not try to tap into that knowledge?
