Hello, I have a 5 1/2 year old, 28 lbs mini Aussie Shepherd who is very possessive of me. He gets along with my son's dog, an 88 lbs half chocolate lab and the other half is full size Australian Shepherd. My girl friend had 2 female Boston Terriers and gets along with them very well. I've been wanting to get another rescue dog but waited until I retired So now I have retired and found a beautiful 10 week old pup. I adopted her May 4th, 2013. Lucy is part Australian Shepherd and part Catahoula and is the most adorable puppy and very smart and good. My problem is that Petey is not taking to her. I have her 3 days. Is there an adjustment period? He growls at her a few times, when she gets too close to him and he goes after her sometimes. I don't know what to do except pay attention even more to Petey. When he growls at Lucy I tell him no but not in a yelling way. More of an authority way. Please advise me on what needs to be done to get Petey, 5 1/2 year old to except her. I thought he would get along and have a friend to play with as he does with the other dogs.
My 3 year rescue Chihuahua/Min Pin barks every night just as soon as the sun goes down! I rescues her from a compound under a table where there was all kinds of domestic animals running loose. I am sure Mother dog barked most of the night to keep her babies safe! Sweetie just goes into spasms at the least sound or movement outside! She has a doggie door but I do not know how to make her feel safe! Any suggestions? Thank You .. Sharon Rea
I have a 5 month old Shepard that we has rescued. She was locked in a small spot of a garage and was never let out. it was so bad she was eating her poop because no one was cleaning it. we had 30 below weather all winter and the garage was not heated. she was very skinny and they were just feeding her table food when they could. we have had her home now for 2 weeks. I am the only one she does not hide from she is now learning to sit for a treat. The problem I am having is I put her outside every hour I do not work so I have lots of time to work with her. So when I let her from outside she comes in the house and pees where ever she wants. When I tell her no and then put her back outside she looks at me like she does not understand. She is now also pooping in the house and she walks all over it. I dont know what else to do I know she will be a good dog I see that in her eyes. she loves it when she is told she is a good girl and gets a treat she seems to understand that. I have had a couple dogs and puppies that we have rescued but I have never had a puppy that was treated this bad. Please help her I know she wants to please but she was hurt so bad. I need help I will do anything.
