Cleopatra lived in ancient Egyptian times. Fashion for women included a straight caftan or shift (this changed very little throughout the history of Egypt). Fabric was generally constructed of linen made from the flax plant which was cool in the hot weather. Cleopatra's linen was made from the finest artisans, dyed and adorned beautifully. Jewelry was very popular and Cleopatra had the finest including jeweled collars, headdress, rings, anklets, earrings and bracelets in brightly colored gems. Many priceless Egyptian jewelry artifacts exist in museums today. A display Nefertiti wore (which would be similar to Cleopatra's adornment) is only display in Berlin today.
