What do you do , when you "have" to sing in front of people and have no choice?

I have to sing on Sunday in front of my church for young night, and I'm very scared and nervous! I never did it before and I'm so shy! :(

I have to do something similar in a few weeks and I'm extremely shy as well. My best advice would be to sing like no one's watching you. Try breathing to relax yourself before you go up and just smile and have fun! No one will judge you unless you act like you don't want to be there. If you "have" to sing, I'm sure they chose you for a reason! :) good luck!

When you sing, watch your parents, friends or at a clock in the room. But don't rush the song! ;-)

Believe and know that everyone is happy to see you and listen to you and hoping you do well.

Before I began being able to speak publicly, my friend suggested that I write the most outlandish and crazy story I had ever written. Then perform this story in front of a crowd of people I didn't know. What he was actually doing was preparing me to be able to tell a serious story or speech. That by being able to tell a group of people something nonsensical, that being more serious to the group would be easier. This is how I began doing "performance poetry".
I've never had a problem since then speaking to any size crowd about any topic.

When I started singing 20+ years ago, I didn't make eye contact with anyone. I made sure to glance around to make everyone feel included. And I do agree with the above answer: don't rush the song. It's easy to get ahead of yourself and the music when your nerves kick in. I would also gather a handful of close friends/family and perform for them prior to your performance. Have fun with it! Performing is wonderful, especially when your picked to do it. You'll be just fine! Best of luck! :)

just remember the one your singing to, your singing for God right? not the people in the room, your not singing to entertain them, its God your praising.

Trust me, you have a choice. My teachers tried to get me to sing. The beauty is, they can't physically force you to do it. If you really don't want to, you don't have to. Just be upfront and tell them that you refuse to sing.
