How to Remove a Perm

Report as

In order to remove a permanent wave from hair you must cut off the part that was permed, however there is an effective way to minimize the effects of the perm and make the hair straighter. By applying the same chemical to your hair that was used to perm it and combing it through you can straighten the hair. You are simply following all of the exact same steps you did with the permanent wave except you will not be wrapping the hair. It is still necessary to neutralize. I am a former stylist and this works great however, be sure not to place to much tension and pulling on the hair during this process. Follow up with a deep condition and condition on a regular basis. Note: do not attempt to use this process to remove a permanent hair relaxer that was performed with sodium hydroxide, there is no way to remove a permanet hair relaxer other than by cutting.
