The best way to clean a coffee maker is to follow the instructions included with the maker when purchased. If you do not have the instructions, most coffee makers can be broken down and cleaned. Never submerge any electrical parts in water and be sure to unplug the coffee maker before attempting to clean. In most cases you can put the basket, urn and cover in the dishwasher or wash with hot soapy water. You can then fill the coffeemaker with a half vinegar half water solution and run it through as if you were making a pot of coffee. Don not add coffee grounds of course. Once it has finished, run through a pot of plain water to rinse the inside of the machine to rinse.
