Why is my car battery dying after installation of an aftermarket stereo?
I have a 1998 honda civic and had my aftermarket stereo, that I had used with no problems for 10 years in another car, put in. Immediately after installation of the deck, the 4 interior speakers, the 2 subs in the back and the amp, my interior light no longer turned on when the door was opened. About 3 months after installation, I had let the car sit for about 2 or 3 days, and the battery went completely dead. The battery was just about brand new-I had it checked and it was fine. I noticed that if I did not at least start my car every day, the battery would die. I turned my interior light switch to OFF, and thought maybe that would help. Then a few months after that, my subs suddenly shut off while I was driving. Could not figure out what the issue was. The subs stayed off for about 5 months. Then suddenly, my battery died again, and as soon as I jumped the car, the subs were back on again, after not working for months. I am wondering how all these things are connected to one another, if at all, and how I can fix this issue.
