How should I ask him about this?

I caught my guy friend bawling in the middle of the hall last week. He wouldn't tell me what was wrong. I knew something had happened with a couple of his jerk "friends". The next day he started dating the ex of both of those "friends". I know they're connected. I know I'm one of the few people he will talk to about this. I truthfully think his life was threatened if he wouldn't date her. Now I want to know how should I approach him about this.

I suggest you go out and make him feel free after which you can start by mentioning that you value him and you're concerned about his welfare. You can then tell him about what you have observed and request him to tell you what is going on however, tell him that it is okay if he is not willing to talk. Whether he tells you or not maintain frequent conversation so that he may feel you are truly there for him.

Let him know that if he needs anyone to talk to that you're there for him, you can't force him to tell you anything & if he wants to let it be then that's up to him. It does sound like somethings going on but unfortunately if you push him, you could lose him.
