Cause he came out of nowhere. People compare him to Tim Tebow, well Tebow won two national championships, a Heisman, and was drafted in the first round. Jeremy Lin went to Harvard, and had a fine career there, nothing incredible. Now Lin has reached an incredibly great hot streak, and the sports world is abuzz about him. Linsane, right?

Jeremy Lin is such a big deal as he became an overnight sensation. He was not known until he played and scored major points for the New York Knicks. Before Jeremy was on the bench and when he was given the opportunity he became one of the best players currently in the league even impressing Kobe Bryant himself.

He's an Asian basketball player.. there aren't too many of those. lol and he's really actually amazing. haha he's also from california. so if your from here that's also why he's a big deal.

Classic underdog story. Cut from 2 teams, comes to New York & becomes one of the most valuable players on the team. What a wonderful success story for someone who was always on the edge of getting cut from the teams he was on. may he win many championship rings!!!!!

He is a gifted basketball player and team leader. He showed that an Asian player can play exceedingly well despite not having previously been given the chance (because he is Asian?) to shine. (I'm white.) Also, he has good character. Remember? He said he'd been trying to fit other's expectations and was miserable; then he decided to just be himself. He became much happier, plus I can't help thinking that that has contributed to his success as a basketball player simply because he'd stopped pressuring himself to fit a mold -- other peoples' mold -- that he wasn't who he was. In other words, he chose be to authentic and not phony. He became a real man.

No he is not the first Chinese basketball player to play in america, Greenpaws. Yao Ming did. So did Yin Jianliangan, and a few others. He is Asian, but was born in california.(Clue: HIS NAME IS JEREMY!!!!) Get a life Greenpaws!

i don't even watch basketball and i knew Yao Ming was Asian and a baller greenpaws. man that's pretty sad not to kno who he is bc he literally sticks out or rather i should say UP is the more accurate word. dude is like REALLY TALL! There was this little festival, a competition if you will, that comes around every 4yrs since oh idk the beginning of time for all i know (im not an expert) called the OLYMPICS. Ever hear of them? That's where I first heard of Yao Ming and the guy is REALLY TALL. I came to this question bc out of curiosity I was wondering who this Jeremy Lin person was too so ty for asking. I was hearing alot of good things about him too and I didn't have a clue who he was. Love underdog stories so I hope he kicks azz and goes to win several championships too. Who knows maybe he will end up in the Olympics one day too. did i mention that Yao Ming was REALLY TALL??? like i'm talking you need a stepladder to look him in the eye tall. When I said i wanted someone tall dark and handsome God sure does have a sense of humor in the height dept. Oh well at least I could wear heels if we dated and wouldn't have to worry about towering over anybody.

There are many reasons. For one, there aren't a ton of Asian basketball players. Also, he was studying at Harvard, then stopped to play basketball, even though he was just sitting on the bench. He is a great team player. He was nice to all his team's stars, worked hard, and tried, even though he wasn't actually playing. Then, he got a chance to play, and he was ready. He was an overnight sensation!

He broke records, look it up , it doesn't matter what race he is, A guy who's about to get cut from the team breaking records is pretty incredible. He brought the team spirit up, push everybody else to be a better player. gave the team a 7 win streak, then said it was due to everybody else's credit? He is humble, which makes him one of my favorites.
