Taking diuretics isn't as harmless as it seems. They can lower your blood pressure and decrease your potassium levels; both are potentially serious. As for the weight loss, your not losing any fat when you take them, just fluids and potentially necessary elextrilites. Just eat healthy and exercise; their are NO weight-loss quick fixes.
Taking water pills without knowing what you're doing can be fatal. Of the 2 most common water pills pills, spironolactone (generic name)contains potassium. If you choose that drug, you end up adding potassium-too much-to your body. A potassium level of 6 or over is heart attack territory. So you get some kid who wants to lose water weight "fast"-well, the kid or young woman or man could possibly end up in the hospital with heart damage before they even hit their 20's. How do I know? I take the stuff!
Miss Martha, you look like a mature woman, at your age water pills (diuretics ) should only be used under the direction of a doctor as they can have serious side effects on your heart. Please be safe and talk to your doctor about what is right for you in regards to a weight loss pill.
