It's when you say " I love you "
Or basically give a complement
With out actually saying " I love you "
Or without actually giving a complement -
For example - I call my cat my love bucket - he's my buddy-
I'm not sure how to explain it

Its an expression someone uses for you when they like you. Like a guy might call you sweetie. It's a good thing!

Terms of endearment are like "pet names" for a loved one. Eg. "Honey;Dear;Sweetie, etc."

One way we express love and friendship is to use a term of endearment, I wouldn't call the cashier "Sugar Lips" but I did my husband, a nickname just for him. See now?
