Is it true that police departments do not accept anyone with any sorts of defects?

My dad told me that police departments do not accept anyone with any kind of body defects. desperately need to know!!!

It depends on the type of defect you're talking about. Years ago there were standards that no longer exist & many times it was local policy. When my dad became an officer, the force he served with had a height minimum of 6'. The 70's brought many changes in all areas, the ht.min. was challenged by women that wanted to be cops, & they won. It really depends on the basis of "How will this effect job performance" & can you do the job as well or better than a "normal" person. Besides being a cop there are numerous positions in law enforcement, security, & IT work. If you don't want to put the problem down here I understand. if you'd like I can try to answer it by other means

Not true anybody can go to jail some jails even have handicap rooms

It is true that the police force does not accept anyone with any sorts of defect to join the force. A lot of training is necessary once a person has been recruited. They check for physical, mental and health status of a person.
