Actually, this riddle is designed to be nonsensical, and according to its author, Lewis Carroll, he never intended for there to be any real answer to the question: “why is a raven like a writing desk?” The entire point of the riddle is that it has no answer, although numerous people have come up with creative interpretations of the riddle.
In my opinion it means when you see a raven or something comes up suddenly it means you will never know what will happen. Just like the sentence " life is like a box of chocolate you'll never know which one you'll get." think of it as trying to predict your future like for instance you being the raven and your future like a writing desk things could change at anytime just like a writing desk.
