Assad in Arabic means "lion" and another meaning. What is the other one and what is the difference how they are written in Arabic?

In Arabic, two words are transliterated into assad. One means "lion". What is the other one and what is the difference how they are written in Arabic?

I don't think Assad has another meaning apart from lion. When written with an apostrophe, like As'sad, it means the most compassionate. The only variation of Assad is Asad. You can read all about the name at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asad_%28name%29.
