I honestly think that it's the other way around. Music can change someone's personality. But at the time when someone is listening to music their attitude or even outlook on life can be compromised by the intensity of the music.

No i don't believe that it does. I have been listening Trance and in general electronic music exclusively for the past 5 years. And recently through some new friends i made, it turns out that i like Death Metal which is totally opposite to electronic music! And in particular Brutal, Technical, Death Metal. This is a great way of NOT getting bored. When you are sick of the one you listen to the other :) So i think that opening myself up to a totally different kind of music hasn't affected my personality. It has only widen my horizon! Which is a great thing!
If you listen to specific songs over a long period of time, the nature of the songs can affect what you think about. If you dwell on that for long enough, it will start to affect your actions.
The type of music can affect mood and personality as a result, but that doesn't mean if you listen to one type of music you're going to turn out a specific way. The same song in the same environment can affect two different people in different ways. It could also affect one person in different ways in different environments.
So, yes, it definitely affects it. But how it affects it varies from person to person and from one situation to another.
