What is 8 divided by 6/7?

How'd you get it cause my teacher's very picky about showing work.

Cannible had a good idea, but if you don't think of something like that there are two ways that always work in dividing fractions.

1. 8/1÷6/7

flip the second fraction and change the division sign to multiplication

=8/1•7/6

=56/6

2.

8/1
---
6/7

move the denominator of the denominator to into the numerator (7 to the top) and the denominator of the numerator into the denominator (1 to the bottom) (corny maybe but say it enough times and it will stick like a tv ad)

8•7
----
1•6

56
--
6

Finish both methods by dividing in your head or by doing the long division… 6 into 56 goes 9 times with remainder 2, so

= 9 2/6

= 9 1/3

(Cannible, check your division. 7 divided by 6/7 is 49/6 or 8 1/6, and 1 divided by 6/7 is 7/6 or 1 1/6. So you get 8 1/6 plus 1 1/6 is (8+1) plus (1/6+1/6) which is 9 2/6 or 9 1/3.)
