Joints are the meeting points of two separate bones which are held together by connecting tissues and ligaments. A thick, clear lubricant (made mostly of carbon dioxide and some nitrogen) called synovial fluid is found between the bones. When you stretch or pull your finger to get that desired popping noise, you are causing the bones to pull apart. Pressure is reduced on the synovial fluid and bubbles form that quickly expand and then burst - which is why you get that noise.
Everyone is saying no, but the true answer is its not bad for you, but it can cause your knuckles to look bad. Also it is sort-of a bad habit if you are with your friends. I used to pop my knuckles aaaaaaaaall the time. Now I regret it. they are bigger than they would have been had I not.
So if popping your joints is bad for you, then maybe CHIROPRACTORS need to go out of business. besides isn't that what they do when they adjust your back, neck, and other joints. I don't know it all sounds like joint popping to me. not to forget to mention I have been "popping" my knuckles for over 50 years, and I have hands that look good and feel good, Plus I have been going to a chiropractor for 30 years and I feel great.
nooooooo! everybody always thinks that it can give you arthritis if you do it to much but it is not true. I've asked a few of my doctors that i have had and they all said NO! It is just putting air between your sockets. IT IS NOT BAD FOR YOU!!!
QueenOfFashion11 is correct, but I want to add that the liquid she is talking about helps lubricate your joints when popped. A Chiropractor told me this because I asked him the same question you are asking right now. He also told me it's only bad if you do it too much.
I've been doing it for over 50 years now and my fingers do not droop, my bones are fine and I've reduced a lot of tension that otherwise would have harmed my health, I'm sure. Take it from an old lady, POP AWAY!!!
there is a 50% chance that its bad for you and there is a 50% chance that its OK!!!! but we might not know so just to be on the safe side i would recommand you not to do that because i do that 4 times a week and my knuckles are pretty gross. ps. im 11 years old
yes it is bad for you because when you are older [like60] you can get oltherides and it makes your fingers ugly lokking and hert relly bad and this is with other bones too and it is relly exspiseve to get a specal cure for ur figers
It is socially harmful if you do it in public at wrong times. The sound comes from a negative pressure pulling nitrogen gas temporarily into the joint.Normally, painless cracking is not bad for you.Painful cracking is accompanied by tendonitis or bursitis.
