How are remnants of the Aztec and or Mayan empire still visible in modern day Mexico?

In different parts of Mexico you can find ruins and pyramids dating back to the Mayans and Aztecs, as well as artifacts found in museums. One example is Palenque in Chiapas which is a Maya city found in the jungle in the northern part of the state. You will also find Aztec pyramids in other parts of Mexico.
