Q:

Who is Dr. Wayne Dyer?

A:

Wayne W. Dyer, Ph.D., is a self-help author and speaker whose continuous message is that it is possible for every individual to lead an extraordinary life. He is known as “the father of motivation” by some of his followers. His first book, “Your Erroneous Zones,” became a best-seller with more than 30 million copies sold.

Dyer was born in Detroit, Mich., on May 10, 1940, and lived in an orphanage until he was 10 years old. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962 and received his doctoral degree in educational

counseling from Wayne State University.

As of 2014, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has more than 30 books in his catalog, including “Manifest Your Destiny,” “There’s a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem” and “Wisdom of the Ages.” His books “The Power of Intention,” “Inspiration,” “10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace,” "Change Your Thoughts — Change Your Life,” “Excuses Begone” and “Wishes Fulfilled” are New York Times bestsellers and features on National Public Television specials.

Stephen Mitchell filed a lawsuit against Dyer in 2010 accusing Dyer of taking 200 lines from his book interpreting the Tao Te Ching, and psychotherapist Albert Ellis wrote that Dyer’s best-seller “Your Erroneous Zones” was plagiarized from his book, “Rational Emotive Therapy.”
