Q:

How do you cure nail fungus with Vicks VapoRub?

A:

Vicks VapoRub can be applied to the nails two times per day for several weeks to help reduce the instances of nail fungus. While studies have not been entirely conclusive, they have shown that Vicks VapoRub has some affect on the nails that have fungus.

A study of the efficacy of Vicks VapoRub was performed by the doctors Richard Derby, Patrick Rohal, Constance Jackson, Anthony Beutler and Cara Olsen. These doctors asked the participants of the study to place the Vicks VapoRub on toenails that had fungus for a period of 48 weeks. The participants were first tested to make sure that their affected nails were positive for a fungal infection. The participants used Vicks VapoRub two times a day during alternating periods of the 48 weeks. Pictures were taken during this time and the evidence that was obtained from the participants was documented. There were several abstract factors that led the project to be a noncontrolled one. Differences in the people who were participating as well as environmental differences in their particular situations caused the study to come up nearly inconclusive as to whether the product truly worked to cure nail fungus. After the treatment, the majority of the patients did test negative for the original fungus that they had.
