Q:

What hair color makes a person look younger?

A:

To look younger, a person should choose a hair color that is a few shades lighter than what the individual normally chooses. That advice applies both to men and women, according to Rita Hazan, a celebrity hairstylist with an eponymous New York City-based hair salon, and Gabriel Garay, a hair colorist, also with his own salon.

There is no one-size-fits-all hair color for a more youthful appearance. However, the color should always complement a person's skin tone and features. Older people should reject really dark, severe colors like black in favor of colors like chocolate brown.

Brad Johns, owner of the Color Studio at the Samuel Shriqui Salon, recommends choosing as warm a hue as possible and staying away from any monotone, or solid color.
