As of 2014, DC Shoes is a wholly owned subsidiary of Quicksilver, a publicly traded corporation. DC Shoes was originally founded by Damon Way and Ken Block in 1994.
DC Shoes originally stood for Droors Clothing Shoes, referring to the Droors Clothing brand that Way and Block founded in 1992. In 1997, they divested themselves of the Droors Clothing brand, and the company became DC Shoes, Inc. Quicksilver acquired DC Shoes in 2004 for $87 million in cash and stock. As of 2014, DC Shoes manufactures a line of products that includes skateboarding shoes, apparel, snowboards and snowboard accessories. In 2010, the DC Shoes brand headquarters was moved to Quicksilver's headquarters in Huntington Beach, Calif.
