Aluminum is one of the metals that is commonly powder coated to give it a strong, durable finish and a pleasing, decorative appearance. Powder coating is a three-step process involving preparation, application and curing.
For preparation, the aluminum surface must be clean and free of any dirt and debris before the powder coat can be applied. This is key to the end product; a good cleaning promotes adherence of the coating and prevents blistering. Next, the fine powder is sprayed on electrostatically, and the item is baked in an oven to melt and blend the powder into a uniform, durable coating.
