What Is the Difference Between B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons)?

The difference between B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) is that while the first only designates a bachelor of science degree, the second designates the same degree with honors. According to the University of Warwick, honors are typically awarded after a specified number of credit points are achieved.

“Hons” is suffixed to designating letters, such as B.Sc, to denote a degree with honors awarded from certain universities. The degree classification is most frequently employed as a grading scheme for undergraduate programs throughout the United Kingdom.

In addition to being used in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the system is also applied in various other countries around the world. The honors system used in the United States is different, although it does have some similarities.
